Why didn't I think of that? Since my dropdown archive script doesn't take much space, there's no reason not to have another copy of it at the bottom of the page. I really should rewrite it though, so that when you are in an archive page, that page is the selected option. Better yet, the script should notice whether it is at the top or the bottom of the page, and at the bottom just write links for "newer" and "older".

Blogger wishlist:
- Categories, and archiving by category
- Archiving by post and by day
- Ping weblogs.com on update
- Post preview (with CSS from your template)
- Image uploader
- Back and future dating of posts
- Import entries from other systems
- Integrated comments with comment preview
Rads: no more waiting for Blog of Note lightning to strike, no more trolling for interesting blogs among the hundreds of "just testing" in the Recently Updated. I like it.

Not for the faint of heart, but it is possible to have a non-javascript option if you use the javascript included in the main page style of archive links.
Better Archive Listings: actually, Andy is too modest. Once he gets it finished, it will be the ultimate archive template.

I keep getting FTP errors: well, I think that will be one FTP error, permission denied.
[Update: and that's what it was; nicely posted, though.

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way: aimed at people asking questions of Linux kernal hackers on mailing lists, but still a useful read for Blogger help-seekers. I'm particularly fond of why you shouldn't ask for a reply by private email.
Poor bob dole: some people don't even notice when they get hit by with a clue-by-four. "the yellow boxes with dashed borders did not exist at the time when I wrote this." Must have been a bit slow to click "post", since as I remember Ev. stuck that in back in October.
The joy of DIY: I'd always envied jack saturn et al. in old posts, where they would just look at the person's template or settings and say "you need to do this", but I didn't know how nice it was until Tam, who had invited me to join/made me an admin because of my 104 post, had a problem (and a couple more she didn't know about yet) that I could just fix by getting my hands on the blog itself. So nice and quick and easy, even if we might both have learned more by doing it via Discuss.
It's not 11:50pm: she says Blogger is stuck on a <$BlogItemDateTime$> of 11:50pm. I emailed Ev, but in the midst of server problems, no reply, none likely.
[Update: tracked down her blog at licksortz.org/pseudo, but since the blogID (1896282) doesn't help me check, I'll just be waiting for her to post her template.]
